Competitors Vying for National Championship Spots and Regional Payouts in NG Qualifiers

The summer is heating up, and so is competition on the Next Gen Tour! Thousands of competitors across three divisions have already made their bid for a shot at an invitation to the National Championship. The top 5 bids in each region will get their invitation.   What’s a bid? It’s the average rating of your qualifier performance – everyone who competes in a qualifier makes their bid for the invitation and regional payouts. Remember, NG Qualifiers now run all the way into October and you can make as many bids (or play in as many qualifiers) as you like. We’re midway through the season, here’s how it’s shaking out:

The Northwest Region is again stiff competition this year.

5 Erik Etherton 67070 2018 NGT Qualifier – R8: Wheatland DGC Gladiators 52 988 54 960 974

Michael Robinson is leading the way here with an 985.5 average rating and sits in fourth place nationwide.  Michael finished in a 3-way tie for 10th place in 2017 just missing his invite. With qualifiers being held into October, we’ll see if he’s able to hold on to it this year.  There is another way to get that coveted invite, per the NG announcement made on June XX? 3 invitations are also being awarded to the highest rated performances at each regional Premier Event.  The Northwest event is at Milo in a few weeks: register here (insert link)

The Southwest Region is currently led by Alexander Miller.

Miller leads nationwide and staked his claim at the top in the Southwest Region at the RedLine DGC Qualifier in May. It’s clear he will be a competitor to watch. Might there be a new Jeep in his future?  Another notable bid is current second place holder, Dusty Nadeau, who leapfrogged there from the Saints division.

In the Mountain West Region, the Knights Division is well represented at the top.

Like the Mountain West, the Mountain East is currently ruled by the Knights.

Andrew Cornwell climbed all the way to seventh at last year’s National Championship, and his qualifier win has him in good position for a return trip. Matt Travis is also a familiar face, as he finished in a tie for tenth at last year’s final. Both are strong competitors and it would not be a surprise to see them in the driver’s seat come November.

Garrett Picton is in second nationwide by a slim margin, but he’s on top on the Southeast Region.
