2. Registration, Withdrawals and Refunds

Registration: Registration for the 2018 Qualifier Tournaments open initially on February 15, 2018 with additional qualifier events being added over time. The Next Gen staff will seek to open registration a minimum of 3 weeks prior to any event whenever possible. All Next Generation registration and entry fees, including day-of and on-site, are intended to be collected through www.discgolfscene.com for US and Canada events; www.discgolfmetrix.com for Euro/Aussie events;

Discounted entries for all Premier Event Tournaments are by invitation only; Competitors who compete in a Qualifier prior to the Premier Event in their region receive an invitation to register for $100 rather than the standard entry of $150.  All registration for the Premier Event tournaments will be hosted by www.discgolfscene.com.

Registration for the National Championship Tournament is by invitation only; Qualified invitees will be sent registration information once they have qualified for an invitation as described in this handbook. Registration for the tournament is hosted at www.discgolfscene.com.

Refunds:  Qualifiers: All qualifier refunds are managed by the event TD and are to follow PDGA guidelines unless specifically noted on the Qualifier description on Disc Golf Scene.

Premier Events/National Championships: All competitor withdrawals within 2 weeks of the Tournament and up to 2 hours prior to the published start of the event check-in will receive, at the discretion of the Next Generation Staff, either a cash refund or players package. Next Gen Staff will seek to administer any such requests within 30 days after the event is completed.

No-Shows: All events; Competitors will be treated as ‘no-shows’ if they do not check-in by the published time.   Any no-show competitors who have not withdrawn as per above forfeit their entry fee and players package.

3. Competition and Etiquette

All Next Generation Tournaments will follow the Official Rules of Disc Golf as defined by the Professional Disc Golf Association and the Professional Disc Golf Association Competition Manual for Disc Golf Events unless superseded or contradicted by any statement in this handbook.

3 PDGA Rating-Based Divisions will be contested at all  Next Generation Qualifier and Premier Event Tournaments:

  • Gladiators: PDGA MA1/Advanced Division; Open to all amateur competitors; we suggest a PDGA player rating of 935 or higher;
  • Knights: PDGA RAD/Intermediate; Open to all competitors with a PDGA player rating between 900-935;
  • Saints: PDGA RAE/Recreational; Open to all competitors with a PDGA player rating lower than 900.

Divisional Eligibility:  For competitors with an active PDGA rating, your rating at the time you compete in a Qualifier will carry over and define your division at the Premier Events. If, at the time you register, your rating qualifies you for a particular NG division and it changes prior to your competing in a Qualifier, it is your responsibility to notify the TD and move to the correct division for the tournament. A competitor is always welcome to “play up” to a higher division than their player rating suggests. A competitor who competes in more than 1 qualifier may register in different divisions throughout the tour based on their rating when they compete in any Qualifier. For Premier Events, the most recent qualifier division carries.

Competitors without a current PDGA player rating may choose their division when registering for a Qualifier Tournament. Once that Qualifier is completed, that players average rating for the tournament will determine their division for the Premier Event. For example, if Tommy BigGunz wins the Saints division at his local qualifier and throws an average tournament rating of 948 – Tommy’s going to get invited to play with the Gladiators at the Premier Event.

Any exceptions to the Official Rules at a specific Next Generation Tournament will be announced at the players meeting prior to the event.

All competitors in Next Generation Tournaments are expected to compete with the highest integrity and respect for the Official Rules as defined by the PDGA. Any competitor guilty of misconduct is subject to disciplinary action up to disqualification by the Tournament Director. Any competitor disqualified from a Next Generation Tournament  automatically forfeits: any further participation in 2018 Next Generation Tournaments, prizes, player package, and, if applicable, refunds therefrom.

Any appeals must be made in writing via e-mail to the respective Regional Director and the Next Generation Tour Director and allow a minimum of 3 weeks prior to any next potential tournament. In the event any appeal is not filed on time- the expected consideration, should the appeal be granted, is a refund of the competitors entry fee.
